New York and Hong Kong have much in common. Not least they are global centers of finance, and both rose to prominence largely on commuters riding ferries. Times and transportation have changed dramatically in both places, but the ferry has never sailed into the sunset. In fact, New York is on May 1 launching a new ferry service to offer quicker and cheaper commutes into Manhattan for hundreds of thousands of people traveling from the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens.
