The St. George Route is the first NYC Ferry route to serve Staten Island and sail along the west side of Manhattan on the Hudson River.
This new route transports commuters from the northern tip of Staten Island to West 39th Street in Midtown West in just 35 minutes, with a scenic stop in Battery Park City along the way. There is so much to explore along this new route and we’re going to take a look at some of the exciting new possibilities!

Staten Island Children’s Museum

Alice Austen House
Alice Austen was one of America’s earliest and most prolific female photographers, capturing around 8,000 images throughout her lifetime. Clear Comfort (aka the Alice Austen House) was purchased in 1844 by Alice Austen’s grandfather. Today, the home stands as a tribute to Alice’s work and is a National Historic Landmark.

St. George Theatre
The St. George Theatre is located just steps from the NYC Ferry landing in the St. George District. Opened in 1929, the theatre mainly functioned as a movie palace up until 1977. Several owners since then have tried reincarnations of the space that included a roller rink, an antique showroom, and a nightclub, none of which were successful. In 2004, the St. George Theatre Restoration Inc. non-profit organization set out with a mission to bring the theatre back to life. Today, you can enjoy a live music performance or catch a comedy show at this historic theater.

The High Line
In 1934, the “West Side Elevated Line” was a fully operational rail line that was used to transport millions of tons of meat, dairy, and produce. After years of decline, portions of the High Line were demolished and the remainder of the line was shut down by the 1980s. It wasn’t until 2009 that the first section of the High Line reopened as a public space for pedestrians to enjoy a unique view of the city. The High Line is now one, continuous, 1.45-mile-long greenway featuring 500+ species of plants and trees.
