Take NYC Ferry to the Beach this Summer
There are more ways than ever to take the ferry to the beach this summer!
- Beaches are open for swimming from May 23rd to September 13th
- The Rockaway Beach Boardwalk is a 5-to-10-minute walk from the Rockaway landing at Beach 108 St.
- Rockaway-Soundview route operates every day this summer and connects seven landings across the city directly to Rockaway.
- Additional weekend service will run along the Rockaway-Soundview route between Downtown Manhattan, Sunset Park, and Rockaway to increase capacity during peak times.
- Guarantee your weekend ferry ride to the beach and buy a Rockaway Reserve or Rocket ticket in advance of your trip.
- Free shuttle bus service east and west of the landing will run all day on weekends and can help get you to your favorite beach.
Rockaway’s 5.5 miles of city beaches are open from May 23 through September 13, and NYC Ferry is offering service directly to the beach from more places than ever this summer.
There are three different ways you can take the ferry to the beach this summer:
- You can board our regular Rockaway-Soundview route, which operates every day from Brooklyn, Manhattan, or the Bronx with a standard NYC Ferry ticket.
- You can reserve a spot onboard a weekend departure from Wall St./Pier 11 or Rockaway with a Rockaway Reserve ticket, or
- You can reserve a spot along our Rockaway Rocket express service to the beach, which will operate from Long Island City and Greenpoint on weekends starting this July, with a Rockaway Rocket ticket.

Take the Rockaway-Soundview Route
The Rockaway-Soundview route will continue to operate between Throgs Neck/Ferry Point Park and Rockaway on weekdays and weekends all summer. Review schedules or on the NYC Ferry app to plan your trip.
- On weekdays: Rockaway-Soundview trips make all stops between Throgs Neck and Rockaway all day.
- On weekends and holidays: Rockaway-Soundview trips make all stops between Throgs Neck and Rockaway all day. Additional trips will run between Wall Street/Pier 11, Sunset Park/BAT, and Rockaway to increase the amount of beach service during peak hours.
- Riders have the option to guarantee a spot onboard select weekend departures from Wall St./Pier 11 or Rockaway by purchasing a Rockaway Reserve ticket. Tickets cost $12.00 each and guarantee a spot onboard the departure of your choice. Reserve tickets are only available for purchase in the NYC Ferry app. You must arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time to guarantee boarding. Find out more
- Boarding is first-come, first-served for riders without Reserve tickets, whether a valid one-way ticket, 10-trip pass, unlimited 2-Day pass, or discount ticket. On busy summer weekends, NYC Ferry crews will manage vessel capacity to make sure people can board at every landing.

Take the Rockaway Rocket (Service Runs July-September)
The Rockaway Rocket will return this summer and run for a limited time between Long Island City, Greenpoint, and Rockaway. Beat the lines and the heat with a guaranteed spot on a ferry going directly from Long Island City and Greenpoint to Rockaway for $12. Tickets will be sold in the NYC Ferry app.
Rockaway Rocket tickets are available for purchase from Greenpoint and Long Island City for two morning departures. Tickets from Rockaway back to Greenpoint and Long Island City are available for purchase for two evening return trips. Tickets will be available for purchase two weeks before the departure date.
You must have a Rockaway Rocket ticket to board. The Rockaway Rocket is a reservation-only service, and riders must present a valid Rockaway Rocket ticket to board the vessel. Children shorter than 44 inches may ride free, and a no cost child ticket can be added to your Rockaway Rocket order when purchasing in the app. Find out more about the Rockaway Rocket.

Take a Rockaway Shuttle Bus
NYC Ferry operates two free shuttle buses, the Rockaway East and Rockaway West, that connect the ferry landing at Beach 108 Street to Jacob Riis Park and Beach 35 Street.
Shuttle buses run on weekdays before 10 AM and between 4 PM and 7 PM. On weekends, shuttle buses will operate approximately every half hour all day. Consult schedules or on the NYC Ferry app to plan your trip.

- For service to Belle Harbor and Jacob Riis Park, take the Rockaway West bus from the Rockaway ferry landing to Jacob Riis Park Rd/Bath House.
- For service to Arverne and Edgemere, take the Rockaway East bus, which makes stops from Beach 108 St to Beach 35 St.
