As promised, here’s the latest update on ice conditions and NYC Ferry service.

You may have seen NYC Ferry boats on the water this week. Our crews have been testing docks and routes to see what’s possible. Combined with ongoing forecasting and landing by landing ice tracking, these tests allow us to better predict conditions and prepare operations for a safe and reliable return.

While slightly warmer weather has helped break up some ice, large ice floes are still moving through the harbor. With colder temperatures and strong winds expected this weekend, conditions will remain challenging.

NYC Ferry service will stay suspended this weekend due to these conditions.

Safety comes first, and our teams are continuing to closely monitor conditions.

Looking ahead, forecasts show temperatures rising above freezing by the middle of next week. As conditions continue to improve, and as we continue our testing, we expect to begin a gradual return to service next week, likely starting with limited or modified routes.
